After breast surgery

Areola restoration

Also called areola revision or areola tattooing, it recreates natural color with soft shading for the illusion of dimension, and can soften scars and discoloration around the area.

Areola restoration: At a glance

Who it's for
Clients who have had a mastectomy, breast reconstruction or other breast surgery.
Color
Chosen with you and blended to suit your skin tone.
Timing
Once healing and any reconstruction are complete, guided by your surgeon.
Sessions
Often more than one, to build and balance color.
Results
Vary, as skin after surgery can hold pigment differently.
Over time
Color softens and fades, so a refresh may be recommended later on.

Skin tone camouflage

Scar camouflage

Pigment matched to your skin helps a scar or an area of uneven pigmentation blend in. The aim is to make it less noticeable, not to erase it.

Scar camouflage: At a glance

Best suited to
Scars that are fully healed, flat and settled in color.
Not for every scar
Jodi sees the area in person and tells you honestly if it will help.
Sessions
Often more than one, to build a natural blend.
Results
Vary with your skin, the scar itself and how your skin holds pigment.
Over time
Color fades, and pigment doesn't tan, so sun protection keeps the blend natural.

Paramedical FAQ

Questions you may have

When can I have areola restoration?

Usually once you've healed and any reconstruction is complete. Your surgeon or oncologist can say when your skin is ready. Let Jodi know about any treatment to the area, such as radiation.

Can every scar be camouflaged?

No. Scars that are still red or changing, and raised or keloid scars, may not be suitable, and pigment can sometimes make an area more noticeable, not less.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on your skin, the area and the result you want, with time to heal between sessions. Jodi gives you an honest idea at your consultation.

Will it hurt?

Sensation varies, especially in skin that has had surgery. Jodi works gently, checks in throughout and talks through comfort options with you first.

Is it permanent?

It's a cosmetic tattoo, so pigment stays, but it fades over time and a refresh may be recommended later.

How much does it cost?

Every person is different, so pricing is confirmed at your consultation, once Jodi has seen the area.
